good morning from chilly NY.
I needed to re do the bars on my SS and wanted to match my new brooks Honey B17 so I posted down below on "what color tape to use" anyway I decided to stick with yellow. I used yellow before but thought another color might work better.
ANY way I bought a new roll of yellow foam tape and shellacked it up , I just dont like the way Cork/foam tape takes the shellack Cloth tape works so much nicer (soakes up the shellack)
Not one LBS in my area has or will order cloth tape for me! and I just wasn't up to spending 30 bucks doing an online order (incl shipping) to order 6 rolls (my 48cm noodles on my cross check needs 4 rolls)
I then had a serious brain fart  [/B]I use to play Hockey and stick tape is cloth and pretty darn durable although thinner than grip tape.
so on my way home I stopped by one of many hockey shops and behold thay had cloth stick tape
Avail in white , red , orange , black, green, blue, ameican flag , canadian flag and YELLOW.
$2.65 per roll (big roll)
since its not Near as thick as Bike grip tape I did 2 wraps over a layer of the cheap foam (pyramid) grip tape.
the hockey tape took the shellack Nicely and has a nice tacky feel to it after 4 coats, looks great too.
I liked it so much I put it over the beat up (shellacked) cinelli cork tape on the cross check.
I used not quite 2 rolls to do 2 wraps on each bike (rolls are big). even if it doesnt last as long as bike specific cloth tape its available localy and pretty cheap!!
have a great day
