Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm riding from Suches to Brasstown Bald Friday morning to watch the big boys climb that monster. Should be a fun 23 miles riding Wolfpen Gap, Jack's Gap and Brasstown Bald. I'm not going to rush it, so I'll probably leave around 10:00 or 10:30 from the store in Suches. I modded my bike for the climbing by installing a MTB rear derailleur and a Megarange freewheel with a 34 tooth cog to go with my 30 tooth granny ring. Hoping there will be a lot of others on the road.
There's nothing like being on Brasstown for the Tour de Georgia! - allez, y'all :D

I'll be there too, though without my bike. I will have my 6yo daughter along for the day.

Be careful out on the road, I expect some traffic.

I'll be there on the mtn too.
Have you checked out the slopes? Brasstown has a slope ranging from 9% to 21%+ in places. I don't think there's a low enough gear for me to haul my fat butt up that kind of slope. Good luck!

Oh yes, I know what I'm getting myself into. I've been there for every TdG stage that finished on BB. I was working as a traveling course marshal in 2004 and 2005. Last year I rode my bike there from Blairsville. I walked almost as much as I rode last year. I'm a little lighter, in a little better shape and have a little lower gearing this year, so I'm hoping to do more riding and less walking.
