- did a nice ride today and decided to share some snaps i took using my Sony PSP & Chotto Shot USB camera...
- locals will recognize the area... my buddy and i do about 20-25 miles a day on these roads/paths several times a week (using a trail for 30+ milers)...
- starting off by the water can be hazardous if you're fishing or walking your small dog (lots of pooches get snatched off the leash down here):
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/1.jpg
- most of the ride is around a large impoundment, with the land situated in the center of a large peninsula on the Gulf of Mexico:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/2.jpg
- open spaces and proximity to water can also mean *nasty* headwinds sometimes (not today):
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/3.jpg
- some shelter is available during the blistering sun of summer, but out in the open you'll fry:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/4.jpg
- good visibility around corners for dog walkers, speeding roadies, and clueless octogenarians:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/5.jpg
- the only hazard here is an inadvertent backcast of a bank fisherman, although spawning turtles can litter the roadway in late spring:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/6.jpg
- nice wide roadway, but no shoulders:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/7.jpg
- this 1/2-mile stretch features lots of sunning snakes (black, king, coral) during summer:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/8.jpg
- on the back stretch, halfway through a loop:

- a bit down the road:

- just got passed by two members of the 'Silver Cyclists':

- OH MAN, I'M GONNA GET DROPPED!
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/12.jpg
- i did, so i'll continue on:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/13.jpg
- i think i'll stop by and visit my friend, Ali Gah-tor:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/14.jpg
- cold in winter, but welcome shade in summer:
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/15.jpg
- here's my 70-year-old riding bud; "Hey! Where the @#$! you been? I'm sitting here waiting for you, looking pretty in my white socks and black penny loafers!"
http://www.tux.org/~bball/biking/walshingham/16.jpg
- it was a good ride!

What a wonderful place to ride. Your warning of snakes on the trail reminded me of a sign my granddaughter and I saw last year on a ride we did in Florida. She was a little hesitant to enter the park but I told her they wouldn't be on the road:rolleyes:

Should have cropped the pic and make it a little larger:( It reads "Caution rattlesnakes common on the island".

You do realize that ride pictures from around here might still contain snow, ice, mud and extensive areas of water (not where it belongs as in your pictures). May your sunburn be at least a little painful.
I would however be willing to trade with you in a blink.!@#$%
Good riding.

"- nice wide roadway, but no shoulders:"
Yeah, but look at that wide, clear, no obstacles ditch. Here we often have 3 foot trench, filled with "only God knows what" next to our hilly, twisty, no shoulder country roads being over-burdened by popn & urban sprawl.
I'm just jealous, a little. But I would miss our hills.

Love the pics. I keep thinking it might be nice to set one up with Al E. Gator biting down on wheel. Although guess you should use one you don't want back.

Wow! looks like a great ride. Forecast for this weekend is finally good here. Looking forward to my first 20 miler of the year along the Blackstone River. That's assuming the water is back in the river where it belongs.

You know in all of my riding I have only seen a couple of gators. With that said last year on the route I ride on weekends their is a MUP that runners go on. A women was doing her jog and stopped to sit by the canal and was grabbed and killed. I don't go anywhere near the waters edge anymore.

Always love to see pictures of where everyone gets to ride. My ride tomorrow won't be very scenic but I may take my camera anyway.
(You know I'm kidding. And I encourage more pictures. But my reaction may be the same)

Nice pics! Where is Pineapple Junction? MapQuest has never heard of it.
It's going to be a nice weekend in NJ too.
But I'll still be cleaning up from last weekend, I may sneak in a ride, if I can find the energy.
