Hey folks, I was wondering if any of you had some insight to my minor, OCD dilemma. I'm building Puegeout U0-8 that's forest green, and in my opinion, quite handsome. It's gonna be a 3 three-speed, with a Sturmey Archer AW hub, original Mafac brakes, etc.. But, the main thing is it has not housing on it, and I think it would look really beautiful with tan or light brown brake and shifter housing. However, I can't find anyone that still makes tan, or brown housing. Does anyone know of anyone that has old stock, or makes it new? Failing that, does anyone have experience painting cable housing? I kind of feel like the paint would come off, especially around the braze-ons (what's the technical name for those?). I guess that's it... Thanks!
I don't know a source for tan or brown housing, but I have had excellent results spray painting vinyl car interior parts (like armrests) with vinyl spray paint. Comes in spray cans at better auto parts stores, iirc.
It's more like a tint than a paint and never did show any signs of wear on the interior of my old Chevy after 8 years. I would experiment with sections of white and yellow housings with a light or medium brown vinyl paint to get the color you're looking for.

I once scored some from The Yellow Jersey in Madison, WI.
