Does anybody here ride flat?

It seems most of you guys here ride street/park/trail but nobody is a flatland rider. Am I alone?

And just a random question, who all rides without a helmet (unless of course you are doing ramps and stuff)? Cause I never do when I'm riding (although it might be the law in my area to always wear a helmet, I'm not sure :o ).

Ah OK so I'm good. I've heard that at least in this part of CA you are required to wear a helmet whenever riding anywhere except for on private property. I think that is stupid. And when I'm just riding around I always ride the side walks even though they have a bike lane (which, I come to think of it, might also be illegal). CA laws are sucky.

I never ride with a helmet anymore unless I'm trying to learn something in a concrete park. Hell, the other day I came down and bounced (literally, bounced) my head off of my ramp when my bike shot out from under me. It made a pretty cool sound, to bad my ears rang for almost an hour afterwards.

If you ride fast, I'd suggest riding in the bike lane. Cars aren't looking for bikes flying down the sidewalks, so you will get cut off and run over by people turning from/onto intersecting streets.

I don't ride BMX yet, but I don't wear a helmet on the rodie or the fixed gear. Ever. I don't plan to wear one once I get my father's old BMX set up either.

most times, I ride with a helmet.
My GF worked with clients that suffered traumatic brain injuries...pretty much scared me into wearing one.

I always wear a helmet. It's quite a lot safer and I'd prefer to not kill my brain. And as Premium says, no reason not too

lol i never use a helmet unless im trying something dangerous, and dangerous isnt jumping a ramp for the first time. by dangerous i mean if i fall im done with. so i wear a fullface for that kinda danger. otherwise, the last accident i had on a bike was on my first 16" when i was like what, 8 year old? i fell on my face and lost 2 teeth and thats the last major accident i ever had. otherwise i usually dont fall or if i mess up i manage to hop over the handlebar and just run off lol. thats why i dont ware a helmet.

I started out with flat, maybe 7 or 8 years ago on department store bikes lol. I took kind of a long hiatus from bikes till a couple months back. I been debatein with myself on puttin flat first again or doin more dirt/street stuff.

As far as helmets go, I never used to wear one. Haven't started to yet but it's somethin I may look into down the line depending on the road I travel.
