Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I picked up a used Univega today for the Shimano 600 pedals.. I know this is a bit extreme but what the hell it was cheap $25. Bike is way to big for me, but pedals are in excellent shape! These are the platform with straps type. Appears is very good they seem a bit stiff when spinning though very smooth not gritty or anything just takes a bit more pressure to turn then I'm used to on my other pedals. I took off the end dustcap and everything looks good inside, any advice on servicing these? I have never took a pedal apart before so :)
I'm so proud of myself :) I took the pedal apart cleaned it out regreased the bearings and put it back together and runs nice and smoothly now :) I've never went to the extent to mess with bearings in my bike before so this is a big step for me :) I thought I lost a bearing at first since there was 11 on the one side, and look like abig enough space for one more but upon comparing both sides there was 11 on the other side. The bearings seem in really good shape from appearance, but is there common size bearings used in things? If so what are they?
