Okay, I have no business entering a race Saturday, but the truth of the matter is the forecast looks great with sunshine and 60's on tap.

I know if I pass on this event, all I'm going to do is sit around and question the decision. I was a little banged up on a 35-mile ride Monday, and the only other time I'll be able to ride at all this week is Friday.

That's not the way you want to go into a spring race. Yet I would imagine the others don't have a lot of time in either, considering the weather around here lately.

So I guess my plan will be to just BE THERE....get myself a number pinned on and just enjoy the experience. The goal...don't finish last!

Let me know if anyone else from here might try it too...we'll hook up either prior or post race, cause you'll be way ahead of me on the road!

That's a WISPORT race  ... don't sit in ... go to the front, hit it hard, and don't look back!

I'll be there
Im 17 and I ride a red Specialized Allez and I'll probably be wearing a rabobank jersey
This is my first race so the goal is to finish with the pack. Im really excited! I almost decided to do the brown deer crit but I thought this would be a little easier.

...a red Specialized with a Rabo jersey...got it....I'll keep my eyes open.

Good luck Frunkin....with those 17-year-old legs you should be able to hang up there!

You'll have a ball.

Since this is your first race...may I give you a couple of tips?
From what I've seen here (I did this race two years in a row already)....

--Be alert!
This is an open event, and while people with enough riding experience enter, many do not have race experience, or pack riding experience. Last year I rode through a major crash that had happened in the peloton. (Of course I was off the back and came up on it later) but there were some injuries....about 20 bikes down. Just hold your line and be aware that there are some inexperienced racers out there.

--I'd say the main leading pack is going to end up averaging in the mid-20's as for an ave. mph. I recall last year, BF member CPcyclist and I talked afterward, and I think he did a 24, and he finished in the top 40 I believe....with about 140 racers maybe.

--The course starts with an uphill, and people tend to start hot....so make sure if you want to hang up there that you are plenty warmed up before the gun. Me....I don't have that problem....I just let 'em all go and then hang on to the back as long as I can.:D

Whatever happens, looks like it will be a nice weather day for once. Two years ago when I did this race it was 34 degrees with a 30 mph wind and even flurries at times!

Thanks Fly.....have fun at the BIFNIC and make sure to say hi to CyLowe, Psimet and the boys.....many of them rode with me on my first century last August, and you couldn't ask for a better bunch.
