I completed my first brevet last Saturday. My Volae Expedition worked flawlessly. I had a lot of fun, but my lack of long distance mileage became apparent in the second half of the ride. I'm looking forward to riding more brevets and getting better at distances over 100km. The nice thing about a slow early season result is that there is only one direction to go - up!....:D

I'm going to do two more 200K brevets [and longer training rides] before I tackle a 300K. I'm not headed to PBP so there is no particular rush to get the whole SR series done ASAP. I am looking forward to the longer rides and especially to the night riding.

Congrats Vic! I did my first 200 2 weeks ago in the Boston Brevet Series. It went quite well. I've got my 300k next weekend and it is finally getting warm around here! You are smart for spacing out your rides. I will have to do my 600k the 11th of May! this does not give much time to train, the brevets are basically my training and the rest of the time is recovery. Glad you can space your riding out.
The Giro 26 has been great as well, and i'm glad to hear the Volae has done well.
I and 2 other bentaneers are attempting the series Audax style and one of the other riders is riding a volae club which is quite nice. Our 3rd rider and leader is riding a Bachetta Corsa. He uses a GPS and i do the cue sheet thing, but the GPS is soooooooooo convenient (but it takes him hours to program it :/ ).

Our bikes are nearly identical though and i've found mine to be great for these long rides. Ive gone to the Schwalbe Stelvios and so far really appreciate the light weight and fast rolling... food for thought.

Anyways, a huge congrats and welcome to Randonneuring!

Thanks too for the Blog, Vic it is a daily treat.

Awesome! I'm working on getting up to a 300k myself. I'm doing a 120k this weekend and a 200k next. Hopefully I'll be able to do a 300k soon!

Congrats Leo and good luck on the 300K. That is awesome that you have other bents to ride with. I have found that keeping the same pace with a DF up and down hills is a bit of a challenge as each bike wants to go a different speed in different terrain. Can you point me to pics and a write up of your 200K brevet?

Cool. Good luck with your rides and definitely take some pics and write up a report for us.

Thanks Charlene for all the rando posts. I have been mining them for info I need. I hope you are feeling better.

Excellent job, Vik!

Thanks Dennis. I appreciate all the info you provided directly or indirectly via BROL & BF.

Although it is snowing outside my window  at the moment I am confident mother nature will get things back on track soon and we'll have lovely riding weather!..... :D

I'm not feeling significantly better yet, but since it is snowing so much just now, I can rest without feeling like I need to be out there cycling.

BTW - I didn't know you rode a recumbent until I chatted with another recumbent rider on the Vancouver Island Eau de Hell week. He knew you, and asked me if I knew you.

Hahaha....ya it's my dirty little secret...

I still have and love my DF bikes, but there is no way I could ride brevet distances in comfort on them.

Best wishes on a speedy recovery!....:)
