does anyone know how to repost an add so it is back at the top and not buried 3 pages back? I signed up for an acount and when I log in it says I have no postings when I know I do.

I've never opened an account, but to bump a post you have to delete the old post and wait quite awhile for it to "go away" before reposting. The way to get around it is to change the title, like "Ladies Schwinn World Road Bike" then "Womens Schwinn roadbike model World". I don't think the text of the ad has to be changed. I usually paste my description from a text file in the folder with the pictures so I can just copy and paste my ad.

I have an account on Craigslist so maybe I can help. Maybe this is a stupid question but did you post the ad before you opened your account? Remember every time you post an ad you must first log into your account or it won't be there. Second thing is after you posted your ad using your account, CL will send you an e-mail with all the information about your ad. Did you get this kind of e-mail? If you didn't, you didn't post the ad using your account. Hope this helps.

Another sneaky strategy is to use a couple of different email addresses for each repost. With yahoo and gmail, it's easy to have several free email accounts.

You have to wait 48 hours before reposting an ad in exactly the same form. Too many folks were bumping their ads up; it was getting really obnoxious so they had to limit it. That said, using different e-mail addresses will let you post an ad more than once, or in different categories.

Personally, I've discovered that using larger, linked photos in my ads obviates the need to bump an ad up. The bigger picture format seems to make up for not being at the top of the list. I think buyers are becoming more sophisticated in using CL -- taking advantage of the search function to zero in on what they want, so having an ad near the top isn't as large an edge as it used to be.
