Hey all!

New rider here from Austin, TX. Just picked up my first road bike, a cheapo Target bike Schwinn Prelude and a few accessories (Giro Eclipse 06, Lights, water bottle, gel gloves). Before you flame me for my bike choice, I have no problems paying sub $200 for a bike...even if I have problems.

Have never done any road cycling before and looking forward to getting in shape and riding more often!

Welcome to BF. Don't be silly calling your bike cheapo. One way to find out if you will like cycling is to buy wisely without spending your fortunes. When you find out you enjoy riding, that's time to reward yourslef with an upgrade and use the cheapo as a back up or put it for sale.

Absolutely! We all want you to enjoy your cycling, so when you become as addicted as we are, then upgrade.

The spare bike you'll have later after upgrading is also a great way to get friends/significant others into the sport ;)

well, i did a lot of research on the net about the x-mart bikes (prelude, varsity, etc)and saw generally positive reviews by those who bought them with the intent of actually inspecting and doing general maintenance.

my hopes are not super high for the bike, but from what I have seen things look promising. i'll be sure to stop by some regional forums!
