Commuting - Might have gotten filmed by the news

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I decided to try something new. I've moved from a location that puts me about 12 miles from school, and I have to carry a good number of heavy books and be at school on time consistently. So, I decided to try out the new bike racks they put on the Shuttle buses. When I transferred at the transfer station, a news camera person filmed my bike on the rack and me loading up. I'll update if I see anything.

Not to quibble over semantics, but they probably 'Taped' you, since few people use film anymore.
Also, you might check out their web-site to see if they put any video there.
Congrats.

They use tape? I figured it was all digital nowadays.
Most news crews still shoot on tape. As prosumer-grade equipment is often more than adequate enough for quick and dirty footage gathering (and it's usually less bulky), it's often MiniDV tape.
It's not uncommon to see cameras like the Canon XL-H1 in use in the field, especially when they're just trying to get some stock footage or shoot a few seconds of video. It's an order of magnitude better quality than your average news broadcast.

Not to belabor this but.........tape can be analog or digital.
We use DVC-Pro which is a digital tape format.
Several stations in town use the P2 format which is a RAM stick...but they cost about 1k each, and a camera fits 5.
OP, please update us if you find out. Hopefully it isn't some cheasy human interest story about "poor college kids" or something though.
And as far as "filmed" vs "taped" vs "whatever". Does it matter? It's slang isn't it?
Do you really "smoke" somebody in a race?
When is the last time you "had your ass handed to you"?
:p

Dude thats sweet, I used to ride past the local news filming traffic and the weather on a regular basis, and even in the depths of the winter with single digits and snow falling, it didn't warrent any film time.

Nice thread hijacking. And who really cares if they use tape or film?
Falkon, did you see yourself on the news yet?

Yeah, you THINK they videotaped you putting the bike on the bus. What they were actually doing was filming your beer gut for their weekly "horrors of obesity" segment, which follows the weekly "how can we protect the children" segment, and the "Let's follow the shady building contractor" segment.
beer gut? I don't even drink, and I think the last thing I look like is a building contractor.
I didn't really find anything out. I just found it interesting that they decided to RECORD this particular thing.
