I will be spending 2 weeks down in Southern California. The town I will be in is half way between San Diego and Los Angeles. A small town called Temecula. Does anyone know of any good trails within a somewhat-short distance?

Greetings from LA. :D There are tons of good trails on the edges of this sprawling metropolis. This is a good website with tons of trail maps to get started...

There is a whole section in the pulldown menu of trails in Riverside County. Do the Hurkey Creek Loop!!!

If you have time to drive for a while, you'll want to hit up south Orange County, for sure.

Have fun!

I live right near Chino Hills State Park, which is about 45min-1hr north of Temecula. I ride there all the time. It's great.

If you want to cruise down to Orange County, hit up El Moro or Aliso Woods...

Make sure you visit the wineries in and near Temecula.

Hi,

There are a few rides that are really close ...

Just east of Temecula on the "79" is Vale Lake. The "12 Hours of Temecula" race series is run there.

If you head south on the "15" for about 30 minutes or so you can find Daley Ranch.

And if you head north for about 15 minutes you can find the Santa Rosa Plateau.

The site, Geoladders, mentioned in an earlier post can get you specific directions.

Thanks for all the info. I wont be bringing my bike so I am hoping to rent a bike for a few days when I am there. Either that or I will be forced to ride my 20" Diamondback that I used to race 8 years ago that has no brakes anymore. Parents still have it in their garage after I have been moved out for 7 years.
