Commuting - Time for another video
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Get your 3d goggles ready.
Took some wobbly handlebar cam footage on Monday. I edited it yesterday, and no, I wasn't on speed.
I'll post the evening commute of the same day soon.
And for the headphone people: this was probably the same song I was listening to as I was riding. :)
Say what you will about my style, but I don't run red lights and I'm usually aware of what's behind me, and know how to maneuver.

Nice dude, but who decided to put bike lanes on the left side of the road?
Too cool! I've been thinking about doing the same thing for my commute, what are your camera recommendations?
Cool -- how far of a commute do you have? Those bike lanes on the left do seem kind of odd.
Thanks for sharing.

My commute is about 5.5 miles each way. I tried to edit out the most boring parts.
I'm using an Oregon Scientific ATC 1000. I'm using it because it's cheap, not because it's good. I think they are on the 2000 now. If you get it you'll need a memory card. The camera I use works with 1GB cards, but not 2GB.
As for the left side bike lane, there is only one on my commute, but I actually prefer that for one way streets, since doorings are less likely (stay out of the 'zone, I know) and passing drivers can judge distance better.

Nice to see Madison represented. I recognized most of the route, except towards the end, until you emerged around MATC.
RE: left side bike lane, I think passengers are more cautious exiting cars parked on the left side of one way streets, since they're not accustomed to doing that. (And traffic on that street tends to move quickly, making passengers even more cautious.) I think drivers too are more cautious maneuvering their cars into parking spots, since it's a less common driving technique. I've never had an incident riding on that path.

I showed that video to a coworker and she said is that guy crazy? I said no he's just someone who likes to ride. She just looked at me with a blank face. go figure:D
