Road Cycling - Vittoria Tires?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone have comments, positive or negative on Vittoria tires? I Just ordered some Vittoria Action HSD Road Tires from Nashbar for 3 reasons:
1. They are on sale for $14.95.
2. They had blue ones in the size I wanted, 700x25.
3. They are going on my second bike so I am not as concerned about durability.
I'm a little concerned that the pressure rating is only 85-100 which seems a little low for narrower tires.
Regards,
Raymond
My experiences with Vittoria have been almost all bad. I bought some Rally tubulars, which turned out to be the biggest pile of cr@p known to cyclists. I then (stoopid me) bought a pair of Corsa's. One was as lumpy as the Rallys were, both were at least a BIT out of round, and those lovely latex tubes held air for, what, maybe 36 hours? And these were $40 each!! On SALE!!
I have had much better luck with Conti (although the good ones are expensive), Tufo, and Specialized (check each one for quality, though). I'm not sure how Vittoria manages to stay in business, given the lousy quality conrol they have. Most of the time, you would be wiser to buy one of the "better" tyres sold by such low-end manufacturers as CST or Kenda than waste your money on Vittoria. Pretty much ALL of the tyres they make in Thailand are awful, and that's MOST of them!:(
I guess my advice is this:
DON'T BUY CHEAP VITTORIAS!:thumbdn:

I sense that your are holding back, D*Alex. Please tell me what you really think. :D
Seriously, I had a feeling that might be the response I would get. As I say, I only got them because I think they will look good on my second bike which will be ridden infrequently.
I, too, am a Conti fan. I have Ultra 3000s on both my bikes right now though I may go to Sport 1000 kevlars on my commuter. The trashy streets I ride every day are shredding these 3000s after just over 600 miles. I tried some Specialized Armadillos in 700x28 on my commuter. The contact area was very wide and flat, like riding 35s or wider, and they got cut up just as bad as anything else. I wish I could get kevlar on the OUTSIDE of tires.
OK, you asked for it, so here it goes:
VITTORIA $uck$!!!
Cheap thai-built tubulars are awful!!!
Riding on the RIM is better!!!!
These ^#@$# things aren't even ROUND!!!!
Who keeps BUYING these things???
thank you.
Maybe we should continue this thread in the "rants" column?
