I just bought an Onguard bulldog mini u-lock, and I noticed it has a pinhole in the center. I didn't notice any mention of this pinhole in the manual. What is the pinhole for, or has someone tampered with the lock?

Could we see this "pinhole"?

Could be for lubing the lock, but that is a guess.

I just called my bike store about it - apparently all the OnGuard locks there have them. She hypothesized it was for drainage.

Thanks everyone, for the suggestions. It sounds like it is this way by design, and that nobody has been modifying my lock. Good to know :P

Mine doesn't have one. Bought it one year ago. Perhaps the newer models do.

Is this the pinhole you speak of? Looks like a roll pin in there so I suspect it's purpose is to keep the locking mechanism from rotating inside the tube. That is on my Onguard Mini.

Some of my OnGuard locks have that pin. I suspect it is part of the "anti-pick" design. On other models, the pin may be present, but concealed by the plastic cover around the cross-bar.

Maybe it's a "manual overide" in case someone loses their key.

This is a cheap ass rusty roll pin to hold the cylinder in place! it should be a least made of cheap ass solid steel, or better still hardened!
