Introductions - Hello from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello everyone.
Recently I've been getting back into cycling, main interest being with a road bike. I also have a nice mountain bike, but not enough mountains nor time for that also.
Until a few weeks ago, the last road bike I road was a no-name 10 speed, when I was 16 (18 years ago). So it's been quite a while, and I'm slowly building up my leg strength and endurance (4-8 miles max trips now).
I definitely have questions and could use advice on this "futuristic, alien, strange" technology these newer road bikes have (as compared to 18 years ago). So I'm a newb and learning. And it would be fun to find a riding friend around Sun Prairie. You will all see me around asking questions.

Lots of other Cheeseheads around here. And lots of other informative, helpful people as well. Welcome to BikeForums.

Hello mrgoodcheese, don't be intimidated by that new-fangled technology--it's all good! Of course, there are those of us nuts who still like steel bikes with downtube shifters, but Bike Forums caters to everyone! Well, everyone who cycles, that is.
As Cromulent said, there are lots of Cheeseheads around--take a look around the Great Lakes (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=233) regional forum and say hi!
Welcome to BF!

Actually, I picked up a used (but in very good condition) '02 Raleigh R500, which I'm pretty happy with so far. I wanted a bike that was decent, yet not crazy expensive, to start out getting back into cycling. It seems everything on the Raleigh I got is stock, except maybe the pedals (clipless I think). And I've seen a presta valve for the first time...... and know I have to find a compatible pump or adapter.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

welcome! I'm pretty new to WI (originally from OH)... weather isn't my favorite but the cycling terrain is much better here.
