I'm losing a lot of salt during hard rides and races. After last week's race my face felt like I went through a sand storm.
Does anyone else expierence this?

Yep, it's totally normal.
Ever see all the white stains on the other guy's helmet straps?
The worst is when you jump in the shower afterwards and open your eyes before its all washed off your face. Stings a bit.

my helmet straps are usually stiff and crusty after a long sweaty ride.
I find that's true early in the season. But, as you ride more and more in hot weather, your body adapts to help conserve salt. My long rides in May/June with hot weather typically result in salt deposits on my helmet straps. But, by July/August there's not nearly as much salt buildup.
Also, different people sweat at different rates. If you're a heavy sweater, and routinely lose a lot of salts, I'd recommend adding some supplemental salt to your sport drink (Gatorade contains a fairly low level of sodium chloride, and a very low level of potassium chloride). A couple of shakes of "Low Salt" in your water bottle will boost both.
