This will my fifth time doing this ride. I had always been sort of skeptical about bicycle charity events and got involved in this through a hiking forum that had a team. I went and was impressed with the people doing it, all sorts of casual riders, mostly kids and families on huffys in sneakers and jeans even in the rain one year. Most people are in teams with the name of a person on them and reading the stories of these team is heartbreaking. Yet, this ride offers hope and sense that even though this is a devastating disease often with devastating results, that all of these folks here with purpose more than just raising money for research and hopefully cures.

The ride became more personal for last year as I rode it two weeks after my mother had died of cancer, her last medical diagnosis was metastatic brain tumors from lung cancer. Doing the ride so close was emotional yet riding this event with so many others was healing and I look forward to the ride this year after a year's worth of time.

The ride itself is in some of the most beautiful riding territory around, it goes though Concord,MA and goes by the bridge, and Walden Pond. One year it happened to be the first really nice day of the year and another year it poured-monsoon like conditions that at some points turned the roads in rivers of water.

The ride has grown considerably and out grew its old facility and now moved on to bigger place. last year the ride actually filled up before the ride and this year it is on pace to fill even quicker.
