Are any other bikeforums.net riders going to be there for the 2007 Lake Pepin 3-Speed Tour?

This will be my 2nd year, and my wife is joining me this time! She was riding the Davis Double Century last year whilst I was riding my Hercules on the Lake Pepin tour. She decided the 3-Speed tour would be more fun this year!

So we're flying into the Twin Cities (MSP), renting a car, then borrowing a couple of bikes. One from my long time friend Bob Allen (we started riding 3-Speeds in 1967) and another from a very kind and helpful Gentleman Cyclist (Mark) in the Twin Cities area.

If you'll be there; see you in the Red Wing, MN car park at 7:00 AM Sat. Morn. If not, try to make it next year!

Hi Rick,
We are unable to make it this year (it would have been our first) My son is graduating from college the weekend immediately prior to the tour. We did manage to make the September event last year, had a grand time and my wife won the perfect bike for her, door prize:D Now we both need to ride more and get the miles in for training;) Unfortunately both of our jobs keep us on the road more than we like. I still have one of my original Raleighs that I bought for commuting over 25 years ago. Still love those internal gears! Hard to improve on perfection;)

I have been really busy of late and can't make this ride, it's been full for awhile anyway. I do hope to make it next year though.

I will be going this year for the third time. This year we will have another Canadian going. A friend will join me this year. Today I sold him a 1967 Dunelt mens 3 speed. He may ride it at this years tour. I will be bringing a very interesting Rudge. The 3 speed ride is a great event.

The "Official Ride" is full.

"Full" being defined as the number of riders that can legally be accomdated at the Eagles Nest for dinner and breakfast. And the number of little ride booklets Jon feels like creating. Not all who are signed up will be able to make the ride, so some will be moved up from the waiting list.

However, other riders will also be doing the trip. They will have to find other places to eat and will have to carry all of their own gear.

Even for those who signed up in time, carrying all your gear is a very good idea. The van usually arrives at the Eagles Nest late, and does not bring your stuff to the motels. Jane and I aren't strong riders, so taking less weight up the Bay City hill would be a blessing. But last year carrying everything saved us enough time to shower, spend an hour in the pool & hot tub and take a short nap before dinner.

One factor limiting the total number of Offical and Unofficial riders is finding lodging in a small town.

Yes soytnly,

Now that you've found the 3-Speed tour, it should be much easier to find a 3-Speed bike to ride! Or, failing that, there are lots of folks with extra 3-Speeds to loan. Check out "Gentleman Cyclist" in Yahoo groups for more details. Or maybe someone here on the forums might have a 3-speed you could use?

Yes soytnly,

It is very cool, and in fact much too cool to be well represented on something as new-fangled as a website.
You must ride it to understand it (and you will enjoy it)! Riding the 3-Speed Tour was one of the best cycling times of my life (and I've had a few!).

And yes, it does take you back in time!
