Hello, i bought myself a new bike two days ago, and im loving it. Anyway, the shop where i bought it, are all part of a local group, they do HEAVY cycling, like 4 day 500mile cycles around Ireland.

Ive been invited out for a run with them, to see how i fair, it will be around 20 miles, an hours cycle or more. Ive been told that they will go easy as they have a 100 mile trip the day before (tomorrow) and im a newb, along wioth my friend who was also invited. I really dont want to show myself up, as these guys are really the best, they have represented NI several times, and have huge sponserships, and are all really dedicated, respected guys.

Do you guys have any tips about runs like these? , over the last three days i have done around 65-70 miles, but i cant see it being much of a problem as im *reasonably* fit as i go to the gym three times a week, and was able to complete a 4 day 83k hiking trip recently with a huge pack.

Any help is gladly accepted, for future runs also, like eating the day before, drinking etc etc. Should i condider training for a few weeks first before i try it with these guys? They seem civil enough but i know what its like to be held back.

Cheers

They sound like a good group to ride with... they don't really have to prove anything. It's the wannabes that ya gotta watch out for. So, go for it! If it doesn't work out, no great loss. If it does, so much the better.
