Some friends did. They loved the area about Baralochie. sp? Said the grades were not too bad. Now, Patagonia, they felt really isolated and the winds were awful.

I've been working for the past 6 months in Argentina and most places I've seen here in the northwest part of the country would not be considered good for cycling. It's commonly very windy and many of the roads have no shoulders at all, and what there is for an edge to the highway is often very broken (so much so that the road is commonly much narrower than 2 lanes). Traffic is often heavy with a mixture of cars, trucks and farm vehicles all travelling at different speeds. Can be fairly dangerous even driving a car.
But having said that, I've seen 5 tourists on fully loaded bikes in ~6 months in the Salta area. Plus thousands of people commute on bikes everyday so the traffic is used to cyclists, but they also expect cyclists to get out of the way.
