My daughter's first road bike is now ready to ride:

I swapped out the 27" steel rims for the 700c Weinman/Normandy wheelset that came off a Raleigh I sold in the fall; the Mafrac brakes handled the switch with no problems. I replaced the Huret Luxe Competion RD for a Super Touring to handle lower gears, but I can't get the damn thing to work on anything over 28 teeth so I think a V-GT is in the near future. And I replaced the Mafrac levers with Dia-Compe ones that fit my daughter's small hands better. As soon as I find a TA three pin 39 tooth chainring the half step 45t is history.
The snow is gone at last; we're going riding!
