I'm still looking for wheel upgrade options. How would you compare/contrast the Rolf Vector comps vs. pros?

I use the comps that came with my bike but my buddy bought the pros that he bought in a pretty sweet deal last year.
Both are awesome wheels in the city. The rim on the pro has a nice little extra bit of groove for brakeing. I guess it helps. I eat brake pads in the city like an SUV eats gas but I've never had a problem with the comps.
Other than that, the only difference we could find was that the pro has neato flat spokes.
I can't imagine the pro costing much more than the comp.
Both wheels hold up amazingly well to potholes too.
My last LBS mechanic was complaining that the pros are a pain to true because you have to keep the spokes horizontal with the wheel.

My bike came with a set of Vector Comps. The rear hub failed at 4500 miles. Unless you get the Rolf's (both Pro & Vectors) from a Trek dealer and get the warrenty you cannot get any support form the "New" Rolf. i was fortunate that my bike came form a Trek dealer and Trek replaced the Rolf Comps with a set of Bontrager Race Lites.
The Race lites are superior to the Comps in every way that I can tell. Smoother ride and much quicker. I now have 3000+ miles on the Race Lites.
However,if you get them cheap and don't cate about a warrenty - you can take your chances.

I've heard there's a story behind the Trek/Rolf thing, but I don't know it. I think Trek licensed the technology from Rolf so they could manufacture them, but Rolf thought that Trek wasn't maintaining quality, cutting corners, or something and the two parted ways. (There were probably lawsuits, etc., too.)

Those wheels are a pain to true, as was already mentioned. One problem I've encountered with these wheels is that if they get knocked out of whack between spokes there's pretty much nothing you can do to fix that.
