How would you guys go about doing that? i think im going to strip it down to bare metal with aircraft stipper or something and then paint it. but im not sure what to use for paint. (spray paint, i dont have access to a gun or anything). thanks!

Strip it down by either, aircraft grade paint stripper, sandpaper and your hands or a sand/bead blaster. Just use regular spray paint, and do lots of coats. Make sure to use clear coat so it doesn't scratch.

You can also search for a local powdercoat shop and see if they will do it for you, but that might cost a bit.

Word. Learn to type or learn go to another forum. Everyone is saying something religious-based today. By a show of hands, how many people were forced to go to church today?

EDIT: Cwt, this is your final. Make your typing "pretty."

No, you don't.

See this thing right here ,? It's called a coma, learn how to use it and run with it.

If I walked into a church, I would most likely burst into flames.

Rough up the finish a little bit with steel wool or somthing and that's all you really need if you get self etching primer.

Get Dupli-color self etching primer, whatever color you want, and clear coat. Do 2 coats of self etching primer, about 4 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. You should have a really durable paint job if you do it right.

Btw you can get Dupli-color at Autozone or any other major auto store because it's car paint (it has a spray nozzle on it and it's aobut $6 a can).

so how would you get all the stickers off of the normal base coat?

MadMan2k
04-23-07, 12:59 AM
They should come off, or at least get soft enough to peel off, using the stripper. That stuff is hardcore, it burns if you get it on your skin.

Blow dryer to make them soft (on the hot setting of course) then use some kind of solvent to get the goop off, like wd40 or something.

It's part of the forum guidelines. This is not a blog. This is a forum.

"Please do your best when it comes to grammar, punctuation and spelling. Excessive use of "AOL'ese" and "hAx0r" talk can be very disruptive so please keep it to a minimum."

k. can do.i eneded up picking up a couple peices from the LBS. dont make fun. im just starting out this isnt going to be a super fancy expensive bike. but i got a macneil stem, and a diamond back headset, the headsets all sealed up and everything, so i figured why not?

FitRider 921
04-24-07, 06:01 PM
The Macneil stem is actually pretty good, but I wouldn't quite go with that headset. Also, please do us a favor and type things out.

We're being talked about in another forum--

"lets all type in lower case and not use punctuation"

I know if you are using a mobile phone that those capital letters are tough! Do apostrophes even exist on mobiles?
