So not happy with how the bike came back from lbs, wanted to sort out rear wheel, screwed the rim tape by accident when I found out it was all loose anyway because some weird paint it was stuck on came off ()

So there I am, Sunday, no rim tape. Need the car, to get to storage place to get spare wheel. Walk to station, get on bus to go back to work, get car, stop by shop that might be open on Sunday, no luck, get lost amongst the suburbs of Rijswijk, go to storage, remember the wheel's got no sprocket and it's buried behind a mountain of crap anyway.

Driving home, I remember that at the station is a 24/7 fietsinstalling (bike storage and bits and bobs and everything place, they have these at almost all big stations in Holland).

A pack of rimtape was 5 minutes walk around the corner. At the place I walked past on my way to the bus 2 hours previously.

Deerrrrrr.

Couldn't you get rimtape from the corner vending machine?

First Aid tape (for bandages) from a drug store. You can even write "velox" on it with a Sharpie if you want.

duct tape, first aid tape, hockey tape, flatted tube... no dice amigos. You engaged your brains to come up with those. That was the error in my brilliant scheme.

Perhaps no help to you at the time, Nicodemus, but a slew of ideas for the rest of us rim tape challenged folks!
