OK, In an effort to avoid further ridicule such as this from Wroomwroomoops in the tail end of thread http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=267740:

"I pocture this john_iverson dude scavenging through long-defunct threads, finding this one, and getting all upset about stuff that has been posted 2 months ago, for being off-topic, when the thread itself was already half dead at the time of posting those off-topic posts. I find that picture amusing. It's like someone reading the Old Testament and getting upset about the pharaoh."

I shall henceforth provide posts to only freshy fresh threads with millions of current readings of said thread.:) :) :)

OK, proclamation over. Question:
Someone in the linked thread mentioned using a connex link on an Ultegra chain. Someone also mentioned SRAM and Campy 10sp chains being 5.9mm wide and Shimano chains being 6.1mmwide. If this is true, does this width difference mean a connex link won't work on a SRAM 10sp chain? Basically I am wondering if there is a way around using the disposable links on the new SRAM 10 speed chains? The reusable link was my main reason for using SRAM chains in the first place and since I now own an sram 10sp cassette I figure I would do well to continue with SRAM chains.

Another Question:

Anyone had problems using an Ultegra 6500 front deraileur with the thinner 10sp chains? It would sure be nice not to have to replace the FD as well.....???

Thanks all,
John

There are (at my last count) three 10-speed Wipperman Connex links. Each has a slightly different spacing - one presumes for Campagnolo, Shimano, and SRAM.

I get so frustrated at the built in obselescence of certain products. DMF, your idea is great and it took me all of 5 minutes to search out a solution to my problem. The greater question is now: Why is SRAM marketing their 10sp chains without a REUSABLE link? They design quality components, why overlook/ignore such a simple and useful feature? Obviously it is possible if Wipperman sells one.

I will be looking at Wipperman chains when the one I just purchased is toast.
