Living Car Free - I did it!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Two years ago I decided to leave my car parked till I had paid off $20,000 of credit card debt. I'm a regular bicycle commuter and had been car-free for many years in the past so it wasn't too much of an adjustment.
But it paid off. Last Friday I officially got a positive net worth and am debt-free! Thank You Specialized for the fine 15 year old Hard Rock bicycle that has gotten me through.
Congratulations Artkansas! You must feel great, but don't celebrate by getting a loan for a new car. ;)
BTW, those Hardrocks were sweet little bikes, weren't they. I loved mine until it got stolen.
Congratulations from me, too!

I thought my 13K in credit cards was bad but Artkansas had me beat by 7K! I'm also debt free from credit cards thanks to having no car to pay for. Time to start paying yourself first by pretending to make car, insurance, gas and repairs into an automatic savings account.
You paid off that kind of credit card debt in two years just by not driving? That's very impressive. :) You're not going to go ahead and buy another car, are you?

Congrats, now you can finally start driving again. :D Just kidding. Keep up the good work, just think of the freedom you will have with more money and no debt.

Way to go! 13K is impressive too. I salute you. As you know, its not just the cost of the car, but the costs of all the places a car will take you.

I had to think about it, but the "Car Wars" sales event at the War Memorial Park was on at the same time as the Earth Day Festival. I was helping out the Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas. And "Car Wars" didn't have belly dancers like the Earth Day Festival did. A man has to have values. ;)

And once again, the belly dancers save the day! :D Congrats, Artkansas.
Congratulations! You are now $20000 lighter. It must be great!

Probably a few pounds lighter too, from all the riding. :)

Congrat! I don't have any serious debt (other than the $125 in fees that I owe the bank) But I was close! ( like ~$8K student loan, paid off by a mutual fund that my mom set up for me :) Thanks mom! :) )
Must feel great to finally have all of the extra money coming in now?

Look like a cool site and could be very very useful but http://files.colonies.com/Images/emoticons/emoticon_Confused.gif They charge for membership http://files.colonies.com/Images/emoticons/emoticon_Confused.gif. Seems kinda hypocritical or what?
(sorry forgot the spelling for a word and had to use "hypocritical")

Congrats. There's no more liberating feeling than not being debt free. I've been there. Now when I put a few hundred on my card for something I immediately get antsy and starting waiting for it to post so I can pay it. I hate debt and love not owing money to anyone.
Treat yourself to a nice dinner - you've earned it.
