BMX - frustrated

Okay, so I've gotten frustrated to the point where I'm making a thread for it. I'm still working with my straight cable and for some reason the cable is not going into my lever right. The cable won't go into the lever right, and the metal part of it sticks out and just won't go in. What's the deal?

This is true. Did you screw all the barrel adjusters as far into the cable guides as they would go, that should give you enough slack to put the cable in, then you can re-adjust them to your liking.

That probly doesn't make sense but yeah.

Yeah, I did, but it's just not right. For example, when I pull the lever, it goes to where it should start out. I'll try to take some pictures.

Are your brake springs set up right?

I believe so. The cable hanger is a little crooked, but the brakes themselves have never been touched.

more tension in the springs?
tighten with the barrel adjuster?
cable is well lubed so there is little friction?
make sure the metal jib in the cable isn't bent out of shape so it can properly fit into the barrel adjuster.

other than that, you're dooOOMed.

No lube on the cable yet, and nothing is bent. Everything is tight. I just have to take pictures. It's probably something stupid I overlooked.

I already told you, it's been figured out... but my cable is too short now due to my father's hacking of my cable.

He's a better mechanic than I am. I watch and learn. I never did things with my own bikes.
