I just came back from cruising around downtown. First time I have been out in the nice weather, and it is wonderful. I work nights so seeing the light of day is a treat for me. You guys shouldn't take it for granted. Riding through traffic is great; I love gliding by everyone who is crawling along in their car. I love coming to a red light with a long line of cars, cutting over to the middle, passing everyone, and reaching the front right as it turns green..

I guess this doesn't have anything to do with fixed gear and whatnot, but that is what I was riding so I suppose it counts. :)

I've been riding fixed gear for 4 or 5 days, and it blows my mind! The ability to tune the speed from my legs, even slow down and stop with my legs, is amazing. I am learning how to track stand (I held it for 5 minutes last night) and when I'll be able to do it with confidence, I'll be able to ride in traffic for miles without putting a foot down. I love it.

I have not touched my derailleur equipped bike since last October. All of my riding has been on fixed gear since. I call it addiction. Riders of the Saturday morning pack ride can't understand why I keep riding fixed with them. At least I'm able to hang in til we hit this one stretch of road when everyone sprints.....not enough gear inches at 79......and I'll straggle in with a dozen or so others. I'm trying to convince a couple others to go fixed.
