So this is going to be the 3rd year that I book this show in baltimore called Bikes bands burritos. We are adding a a brunch component to it. The burritos were someone else's idea and I find them to be a pain in the ass and messy and would rather do breakfast foods but people got all bent out of shape about "changing the tradition" so I caved.
anyway.
it's in baltimore. SUnday May 6. One day after the kinetic sculpture race. (http://www.kineticbaltimore.com/)
@ the charm city art space (http://www.ccspace.org/)
and the velocipede bike project. (http://www.velocipedebikeproject.org/)
at noon we eat. bring some food.
from noon to 2:30 there are bike workshops. In the past, they were all maintenance oriented, this year they deal with bike fit, tips on buying a used bike, commuting, city riding etc. This is geared toward novice cyclists. Ideas pending for a workshop for more regular riders (maybe just another ride?)
2:30 there is a 10 mile ride. casual pace. this ride is for everyone. in the past we have done 16-20 milers and they were a little too fast/long for some of the people who came because they were just getting started. We want to keep it casual and something that everyone can do. maybe if you have a significant other or friend that wants to start riding more????
when we get back (no time assigned because I really want to make this part of the ride. the last 2 years it has been like 2 separate events) there is a show. At least one person from each band is going on the ride.
Here's teh bands:
speedo kill: a one-show fun band made up of 4 dudes and 1 lady doing bikini kill covers.
bryan dunaway: a punk kid playing the acoustic guitar. not folk punk so much as punk on an acoustic guitar.
strange days: fast hardcore band.
wax and wane: lo-fi smooth and mellow. never know what you're going to get. maybe a rhodes piano, maybe a violin, maybe a full out rock band with drums and electric ****.
the degenerettes: all girl garage glam band songs like "I was a teeny bopper for the CIA" awesome!
the event will be held at the charm city art space in baltimore 1729 N Maryland Avenue AND the velocipede bike project (just around the corner) it's a benefit for velocipede (bike collective). anyone who does the ride gets in the show for real cheap or free (I haven't decided yet).
Charm city art space is a no-drinking no-smoking establishment but there is a really awesome gay bar next door that serves GIANT shots.
if you're interested, drop me a line. flyers coming soon.
anyway.
