Just starting to get nice where I live, so time to get back on the bike, but the thing is I have no energy! I never used to have afternoon naps, but I have one almost every day now. I'm by no means lazy, I just cant find the energy to get back on the bike!

I would need to know much more about you, your age, size, nutrition, etc. to venture a guess. You could be depressed, have Seasonal Affective Disorder or some other incipient problem. Have you thought about a physical? I'm being hypocritical in suggesting this as I can't recall the last time I've had one. If you don't already include a multi-vitamin in your diet, adding one isn't the worst thing you could do. Good luck.

Everyone I now is tired right now....change of seasons....ramping up in exercise is tough. Takes a few weeks to really get the energy level to get higher and stay there. I haven't felt depressed all this crappy winter until I went for a bike ride two days in a row last week. I felt awful.

True. I havent revealed alot of information about myself. I'm 22, 5'9" 161.5lb, in the navy, taking a daily vitamin, sleep excellent (too excellent). Hopefully it will go away soon.

My energy level has been going up with all the sun we are getting here. Could also be because i ramped up the amount of food i eat - seems to make a big difference with my energy level. Maybe you just need to eat more/rest more - it probably isnt something thats overly complicated

I agree in general...but there are many questions to answer so posters can be more helpful:

How much are you working out? What do you do, how long, and at what intensity?
What is a general snapshot of your diet? (cals, carbs, pro, fruits, veggies)
What do you do all day?
Any other physical issues of late?

and stuff like that...

Just see a doctor, simple tests can rule out most of the serious stuff. You are Canadian after all, so this will be free.

Another thing to consider is that for me, mental workout ability depends on positive reinforcement. You can't get the positive reinforcement without working out. You don't want to work out because you don't have the reinforcement. It's circular logic. Just break the circle and start doing it. Try to do something every day, even if it isn't much. After a couple of weeks you'll feel better, the reinforcement will kick in, and you'll be off. BTW, I like naps, too, but like them better at lunch time. That may not be possible for you.

Get a doc's opinion. So many things here....

Maybe taking 2 grams of liquid L-carnitine for 2 weeks could help.

See a doc. Much less common in guys, but when I started bicycling I ended up gaining weight. Turns out I have a bad thyroid.

Could be literally thousands of things from anemia to an infectious disease...see a doctor.

If the results from the doctor’s examination and tests come back normal, yet you still have low energy, talk to the doctor again but also come back here so we can have fun discussing why a “healthy” person might have low energy.

Yeah and I can open up a virtual can of whoop ass on anyone that says it's just because you are lazy.

(I have chronic fatigue syndrome and want NOTHING more than to be able to work 10 hour days then go ride the moto for an hour or two)
