Radiant City - Shameless Plug

Go see Radiant City, a 'mockumentary' about the corrosive nature of the car and suburban sprawl.

It's lots of fun, with an entertaining movie within a movie and an engaging cast of characters trying to adjust to their dysfunctional lives revolving around the car. There are some particularly humorous shots of some of the more pathetic Calgary bike paths (I know - lots of them are great, but some are brutal), and great driving sequences.

It only seems to be playing in Canada. I really wish some of these documentaries were available on youtube. That one seems to sum up much of my own hatred for development since the 1980's.

but i thought it's worth noting that it's playing on sundance channel (http://www.sundancechannel.com/films/500255817).

next showing (after the one *right now*) is july 17 (at 7 AM, depending on your time zone).

fans of j. h. kunstler will rejoice. (i'm mildly amused; he makes good points, but i don't dig his architectural tastes.) those unfamiliar with him may at least like his eyesore of the month (http://www.kunstler.com/eyesore.html) feature.
