Just curious.

I work at the PHC. I've become known as the "bike guy." Once a year I bring my tools to work and fix all the bikes for the employees. I do it to encourage people to get out of their cars and commute by bicycle.

I used to ask for a donation and give it to charity, but I don't want to deal with money. I do it to spread good will. And to spread the faith of the holy trinity: play-excercise-transportation.

wish I could.
Wanted to do the Great Dane last Sunday, but something came up.

Funny, I was just thinking about doing the same here at my facility. I've always wrenched for friends on the side, but my recent pick up of commuting has inspired me to convert as many others as I can. Also thought about starting a commuting wellness program with the intent of prividing a benefit to operator's medical insurance premiums, possible tax savings for the company (if Illinois will ever get with the program), and create a possible cycling club (excuse to get company to pay for new kits).

Is there advice you could give after your years of running this at your work? (I've worked on probably close to 500-600 bikes in my lifetime, so I am looking more for specifics about things you wished you would have brought/done differently)

It's pretty easy really. Find out who is in charge and see if you can schedule an afternoon to fix people's bikes. It helps to pick a charity for people who want to make donations. Gather all the free stuff you can find. Make posters announcing your plans.

people will flock to you
