Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - clickity clack of wasted money... me thinks...

I have a set of FSA carbon track pro cranks on the current bike and low and behold yesterday/last night they started the clickity clack of loose cranks?
Seems weird to me as I though that this would be negated by an ISIS BB.
Cranked them down (they were surely loose) today only to find they made the same sound... Now, I'm holding out hope it is just my pedals but am pretty sure that is not the case. They are the cheap SOMA deals and I was thinking maybe the bearings are bad but the sound seems like it is the bb/cranks

Anyone been running these and had the same problem??

It could be a bunch of things. Try tightening the pedals down on the crankarms, tightening the bb and tightening the chainring bolts.

is it simply the BB rounding off and causing movement?

If you were riding around with loose crankarms, it's sorta your fault. You have to check crank bolt torque semi-regularly. Once you've developed play/noise, it's probably too late.

would it be solved by replacing the BB or would the crank arms be ****ed too?

Greased the ISIS splines? Greased between the bottom bracket casing and the non drive side cup, as well as the bottom bracket threads?

I'm afraid it's prolly the cranks. IIRC it happened to a bunch of people w/ ISIS cranks, even on freewheels!
(So far the most solid BB/crank interface for fixed seems to be the good old square taper, BTW)

As usual, the BB is steel, the crank is Al, so the BB is probably fine and the crank is shot.
I'd try some brutality on the interface. E.g. threadlock on both the splines and the threads, and go crazy with the wrench. Hopefully it'll hold up that way. You might be in trouble when you want to get it off, though.

Go get em checked. Cannondale just recalled all their FSA carbon cranks here in Australia cos the BB was cracking.

really I have a year old platinum pro track bb by fs and it is perfect the only thing that sucks is the vigorelli arms which are being replaced with the carbon pros

I had issues with noise coming from my FSA Vigorelli cranks/BB. I took the crank arms off, took the BB out, re-greased and re-tightened everything (cups/crank arm bolts) and its been fine ever since. No problem with the chainring bolts, just some crap on the BB cups and crank arm bolts being finnicky

Pulled the cranks and was about to pull the cups when I realized my 1/2 drive wrench is at the garage...on the other side of the city.
Looks like I will see if that fixes the problem tomorrow..... :(

the torx bolt holding the spider onto my FSA cranks constantly gets loose and causes the most annoying creaking sounds in the world that make me feel like the cranks are going to explode...if yours has one of those I would check it...supposedly its a recurring problem

I have tried everything to keep it from loosening...red loctite, super glue, teflon tape, white out, all of the above mixed together...sooner or later im gunna try the jb weld...or maybe just buy some new cranks

Most people don't torque down the crank bolts enough. 40 N/m... more than you can get with a "L" or "T" hex wrench and your hand. Get your hands on a 8mm socket and torque wrench.

In the mean time... if you hear clicking... your cranks may be shot, but check the other stuff too (like the seat clamp).
