Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - beer in the shower

I was talking to a friend last night about how I wish there was a little shelf in the shower with a canopy about 15cm above it so that you could put a bottle of beer there without getting shampoo and water in it.

He thought I was really weird for drinking beer in the shower. Am I alone in this; in the summer when I get home after a serious ride, what elso do you want apart from a beer and a shower, so why not have them both at the same time? Until I get that beer shelf installed, I have to put the beer at the other end of the bath and keep walking back and forth to drink/wash.

This doesn't seem very bicycle related, but yes, drinking beer in the shower is good. I'm sure you can find a suction-cup cup holder, and just stick it high on the shower wall, so it's above the danger zone, but still in arm's reach.

I used to shoot a tall Bud in the shower while getting ready for work in the morning. Then ride to work with one in my jersey pocket. The crap you can get away with when you're young and invulnerale...

- please, whatever you do, use a recyclable plastic 16 oz. container of beer... that way if you slip and drop the soap-on-a-rope your significant other won't suffer glass cuts...

We've had in depth discussions about this at my office. Everyone should at least one in their lives drink a beer in the shower. Strangely enough all the guys had, and the girls really hadn't in our office poll. Or I guess you could see that as not strangely enough.

I've recently decided that I need a CO2 kegging system somewhere central in my house, so I can have taps in each room--except the shower, where I will install a camel-back style bite valve/tube setup, to avoid watering down or heating up the delicious beverage. Until then, though, I think sippy cups may be the solution...

I'm convinced that there is nothing better on the face of god's green earth than an ice cold beer, a shower so hot you almost can't stand it, and a blow job. At the same time.

Fear not, your behavior is perfectly natural and healthy. I have met many, many men and women (myself included) who enjoy consuming beer while showering or taking a bath. If you do go through with your plan to install a beer shelf & canopy (brilliant!), I can only recommend that you install a double-wide.. just in case you happen to stumble across one of these remarkable females who shares our interest in drinking in the shower.

There was a thread about this in Foo a few months ago. I tried it and wondered why I'd never thought of it before. Now I do it after I mow the lawn sometimes too.

The key to the soap/water problem is to drink from twist cap bottles. You can twist the cap back on and set it on the soap tray. I've even had luck just setting a normal cap on the top, but the twist cap ones are the best.

I don't always shower right after a ride. I often kick it on the patio or in the garage with the bike for a while. I like to make little adjustments , wash it, look at it, caress it, etc... Those moments are often spent with a cold one in hand too.

Beer in the shower? pffft, what about whiskey in the shower?!

you get a little shelf held on to the tile / whatever with suction cups, and just stick it on high. you really should use plastic though to avoid getting cut if something goes wrong. i got my ex-bf a suction shelf in my shower for his beer and he loved it.

I like ice cream sandwiches in the shower after a long summer ride more than beer- tofutti cuties are the best. Then lie on the couch and drink beer.

I just stick the can in the shower caddy - Ive never gotten soap or water in it but it does get warm fast.

i had a house in college that had one wall of the shower low enough so i (but not my roomates) could sit a beer up there while showering. it was perfect, at a party at the house a year after i moved out there was still an empty bottle up there they left as a tribute to me. what an honor.

When I was in college, we had a dedicated beer shelf in the shower and a recycling bin in the bathroom.

The shower beer is the perfect solution for people without access to a hot tub. It's also nice when you're getting ready for a party or a night on the town.

There's a window sill just outside my shower which works perfectly. It's away from spray and I can reach it from the shower. I'll even pour the beer all classy-like into a pint glass and bring that in the shower.

Shower wine and shower whiskey work equally as well.

when i was in ireland this british fellow who was a huge binge drinker was telling me that drinking in the shower helped you get drunk faster and had some sort of explaination about body heat and moisture, it sounded legit but i never cared enough to find out if the science was true

In the bible when it says that God rested on the seventh day, it is understood that by rested, they mean had a beer in the shower.

No joke, it's a combination of two of the greatest things on God's green Earth. I highly recommend investing in a quality beer stein to eliminate water or soap intrusion. I went through a couple that didn't do the job as well as I had hoped, and finally found one that is the balls.

I'm pretty sure beer/shower/beej is an accurate representation of heaven.

you know what'd be sweet? a co-ed kegger in the ladies locker room showers. everyone would be all wrinkly and wasted by the time the water got cold.
