Hi, I am hoping to find a 70s road bike with a vertical drop out and turn it into a single speed. Are there any picturials for this? Do any of you have any links? Is there anything else I should look for besides the drop out when looking to purchase an old track bike?

I apologize, I meant horizontal. Also does any place sell a cheap light frame that is well suited to this sorta build?

Check the dropouts, make sure its near your size and check for rust holes and cracks before you take a trash find.

thanks, I want this bike to be as lite as possible, but it will receive a lot of abuse, is aluminum out of the question then? Is there a certain metal that would be best suited for this application?
