Introductions - Hello from Indiana

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I live about 60 miles east of Chicago in Indiana. I started riding at about 12 years old. Did alot of riding for the next dozen years. However as family and work took over my life, my riding disappeared. Now is the time to return to my bike. I have a ton to learn. Bikes and equipment have really evolved over the past 20 years. Reading, learning and riding is my plan. And .... getting in better shape.

Hello stil190, that's a good plan :) .
What sort of riding were you looking to do? Any thoughts on bikes yet?
Welcome to BF!

My main goal is conditioning. I have an older Trek cross bike. I am thinking I will just do some road riding and see how that goes while I am doing some research here on the site. See where that leads me.
Any suggestions for search terms? I have been searching but not found what I looking for yet. Looking to start up a new riding routine / schedule for someone who is way out of shape.

Somewhere in here someone's already mentioned it:
"The quickest way to do this is to add 'site:bikeforums.net' [minus the single quotes] to your Google query. This will limit the results to only BF pages."
The internal search function is not nearly as efficient as the Google search!
You can visit with the Clydesdales. That forum is meant especially for persons over 200 pounds (male), but it's not limited to that, and they can give you some good tips for conditioning. Also check out the 50+ forum, there's some good material in there as well.

That's a pretty common theme here. Getting back in the saddle after some time off is liberating. Welcome to the forums!
