...it's an idea i've been kicking around for a while but can't seem to find too much info on.
Anyone here have any clues about possible routes, mileage, or other comments? Lisbon to Moscow seems feasible, but getting to China from Eastern Europe looks like an interesting task. My travel has been limited to North and South America with a little time in Southeast Asia, so anyone with knowledge of Europe and Central Asia would be of help.
Thanks,
Greg
p.s. anyone interested?

The second year of my world tour I rode from Lisbon to Korea. I left Lisbon in early may and rode up through the Pyrenees, into France and the heart of central europe by mid june. I had alot of rain this early in the summer, which is what I expected. After a two week break to visit friends in London i continued through the alps, down the Balkans and into Greece. I wanted to cross the Bosporus on August 1st, since I wanted to see the eclipse on 1999. I saw it and also hit the great earthquake that year.
I went into eastern turkey, crossed into Iran at Douguybeyazit crossing near Ararat. It took several weeks to cross into Pakistan en route to Quetta. I spent some time at the university in Lahore. I did a side trip up the Karakoram highway as far as I could go (ice, not snow, turned me back beyond Sost) and crossed into India at Lahore/Amritsar. I was spellbound by India and stayed until early February; flew to Thailand and did SE Asia for the next few weeks, and my final 6 weeks were in China all the way to Qingdao.
I have a zillion photos on my cycling webpages. Will be gald to help more if ya need it.
I lived in Russia for two years, so i didn't bother going thru the 'Stans and the adjacent republics...I wanted to see different climate, culture, and cuisine. While the political temperature thermometer in this region is higher than it was in the recent past, it is a lawless and remarkable region. I am planning a 2nd world tour in the next decade and will follow basically the same route I did before.
