Something you should know: dehydration, lots of animal protien, peanuts, caffiene, coffee, vitamin C and sugar cause kidney stones. I am in the process of urinating myself to death as my poor kidney struggles in vain to chuck the stone. Fragments show up in a urine sample. Yet my stone is too small to show in the X-ray. Even a stone the size of a sand grain will cause agony when it passes throught the ureter. Because of my biking habits, the doctors think the whole thing is in my head (ie., I'm nuts) so I am not getting treated. Sleep deprivation, as any Race Across America participant/fan knows WILL REALLY make you go insane. This doesn't help my ability to make my case. I've been also noticing that some of these doctors (the hospitals were on my old commute route, by the way!) have been getting a thrill out of watching me suffer. I think the fact that I will fight back to drivers who like to PRETEND they don't see me, has made me public enemy number one. Carrying a carbon fiber and aluminum 7050 baseball bat sheathed in a watercage I duct taped to the base of my downtube has given me the title of the "anti-driver."Due to the lightness of the bat, I have discovered the ultimate anti-car weapon. Presently, I am getting dangerously sleep deprived. I can't work. I'm frittering my money away on vitamins and herbal things which might help. I found a site www.kidneystonepage.com with good info. All I have discovered is that most drivers feel I am so much of a threat, that they will stoop as low as they have to rule the road. If anyone is a urologist, or anything, please write. When I broke my ribs, I had a cyclist as a surgeon (thank god).

Another reason to drink excessive amounts of water on purpose.

I've heard some folks say that drinking a lot of lemon juice will dissolve a kidney stone.
This may be an old wives tale, for what it's worth.

Good luck!
