Picked up some 'different' looking DiaCompe sidepull brakes with a short reach--one arm is black and the other arm is silver--did someone modify the brakes or did Diacomp do this purposely? Rather distinctive look!

the royal gran comps were gold and black, maybe someone was inspired by the royal gran compes and swapped a set.
EDIT
Dia-Compe did THE BLACK/SILVER THING deliberately.
The black and gold RGC was a special edition, mine looked pretty good ... until the gold was polished away.

This brakeset apparently was set up as black/silver--no flecks of gold anywhere on the silver finish--came off of an 80s Nishiki Olympic bike--not high end, but interesting look! Any others out there, or did someone go through the time/effort to set them up that way?
