I already have the same Bionx system fitted onto my mountain bike. Works great. For the moment I'm out of commission with a dislocated shoulder (god I miss biking) so I'm left with browsing the web instead of being out there biking.

Anyway, I've always been interested in tadpole trikes. Besides the numerous obvious advantages, I think they look real cool as well.

I already discovered the benefits of the Bionx system on my own bike. The thing really does work. And I would be really inclined to get one for a trike as well. The Bionx is really useful for climbing really steep hills.

So I have to ask a few questions here:

1 - Without a power assist, how hard is it to climb steep hills with a trike?
2 - If you've tried the Bionx terratrike, was it any good in hill climbing?
3 - Trike question in general: Can you easily carry these things on a bike rack?

I was wondering about #3 when I saw this pic on terratrike's page:

I'm curious about this because my main car is a 4 door sedan with rear seats that don't fold down. So I would have to use some other way of carrying the trike. I already have a pretty good bike rack. Could I use it for the trike as shown in the pic?

Trikes are a breeze up hlls with good gearing, because you can always stop and rest - no falling over!

As for carrying it - you can put it on a rack as shown above, or buy a special trike rack, or buy a trike that folks, such as the gt-3 by greenspeed. You can also strap it down to the roof.

Just to clarify my question about the rack: That isn't some special Trike only rack on the back of that minivan is it? Any normal bike rack should do in that configuration right?

That's what I was really wondering.
