Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
First, the completely unnecessary backstory:
When I was 8 I rode a 25 mile ride. When I was 14, I was regularly doing 50 mile rides, and enjoying it. I was going to ride the solvang centry, but some family complications ended my cycling a bit early. I'm now 28, and just got back into bicycling.
Now the meat of the matter:
I ride a 5 mile each way commute into work. This is obviously nothing, although doing it every day is helping me start to get back in shape. I've decided I'm going to ride this coming solvang century. I've still got almost a year before it's here. I'm trying to go on progressively longer rides on the weekends, currently at about 25 miles on a saturday morning, and trying to add a few miles or more a week.
Any training tips? suggestions for a first timer?
Did I just mis a FAQ in my failed search? I'm SURE I'm not the first one to have posted this, but maybe I'm blind and my search kung fu sucks. I've seen lots of "I just finished my first" posts, but none on how to prepair for one.
Thanks.
