I've got a PX-10 frameset with grooves on the underside of the bottom bracket shell as the means of cable routing...I had assumed it came this way from the factory, but someone has brought up the possibility that they were created by the previous owner. Any thoughts? If it helps, those aren't two grooves for the RD, there's a groove and then some missing paint to the right where it looks like the cable fell out of the groove and went unnoticed for a while.

Somebody ran the derailer cables under the BB instead of using the Simplex clamp on cable guides. I don't think it was a good idea. You run into things like that with old bikes.

I agree as well. just to be sure look for scoring marks on the downtube from the guide clamp.
