Hi all,

I recently got my first road bike (Giant OCR Team T), and although I've only put about 60 miles on it I'm addicted already! (19.3mph avg. for a 15 mile loop taking it reasonably easy, how's this?)

My problem is with the seat post - even on a short ride on 15 miles, it will have slipped down a noticeable amount, making it uncomfy enough to make me stop and raise it again. I tightened it quite hard after the first time it happened, but it still happens. Any ideas to stop this from happening?

Thanks, Ryan.

Its really hard to say. I should think that with tightening it hard it should not fall down. By the way you are talking it sounds like it is happening repeatedly. Make sure you are getting enough leverage when you tighten.

The only other thing that I can think of is that for some reason your seat post is too thin for your seat post, but that seems unlikely for a new bike.

If you bought the bike at a LBS...take it back and let them fix it. If you didn't buy it at a LBS...then you now know why you should have.

If adjusting the clamp, and tightening the bolt does not help, you could also make a surface of the seatpost less slippery by filing it, or, perhapse making scratches with a steel saw.

If the seatpost has grease on it then take it off, and get as much out of the seat tube as you can.

Thanks all,

I did buy it at my LBS, so that looks like what I'll have to do.
