Ok so I have been riding for a couple months now worked up to 20-25 mile rides 2-3 times a week. I have a problem with I guess my groin area and my rear. My groin started bothering me a month or so back when I started going over 10 miles. It was pretty bad at first now its not as bad but its still irritating more so after I ride than during. The pain will go away after a day or so where as before it lasted 3-5 days. This groin issue is only on my left side. Also on my left side my rear is sore after riding when sitting. It feels like its sore on my sit bone or possible the joint there. Odd thing is when I sit in a chair its like the pains are almost directly inline the front pain is on top of the rear pain. Only the front pain runs at an angle with my underwear and my rear is more of a horizontal pain. I have attached an image that shows the areas with Red dots of wear the pain is on the front and back. Its a safe image of a anatomical drawing. I plan to go see my physician next week. Still I don't know is this an issue with my saddle? I changed it out a little over a month ago for one that was awful. It fells good when I ride. No pain I am planted firmly, don't move front to back and don't have tender tissues after riding. I did notice today that my right side of my rear is kinda having the same pain also but no pain on the front right. This got me to thinking maybe it is a saddle issue. Any input is appreciated.

Looks to me ,like it is your hip flexors that are giving you some soreness. I would definatly go to see the physician. After that I would go to a good bike fit specialist and have a full fitting done. You may have a leg length discrepency or other fit issue with the bike. When you get fitted, they will adjust cleat position, saddle position and so forth. All of which may cause the problem you are having. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Yes, that's the hip flexor in the front. I don't know the name of the muscle in the back. Like anthemracer said, it could be the result of leg length discrepancy. Though I've done just about the same thing XC skiing which was a pulled ligament or tendon - took a year to heal. But that's not likely from such an low impact exercise as biking. Since it seems to be getting better the more you ride, I think it's just a matter of getting those poor muscles used to biking. Nothing really works your hip flexor like biking, so it's no great shocker that it's sore. I don't think it's a saddle issue. The pain in back could be referred pain from the pain in front, which would be why they seem connected.
Things to do: Try doing crunches with your calves up on a chair or couch and your hip angle at about 90°. See what that feels like. Watch your knees as you ride. Are both of them directly over your pedals? Do either of them describe a sort of circle or ellipse as they go up and down? Half way through your ride, get off and stretch. Take 600mg ibuprofen about an hour before you ride. Sometimes if it's an issue of swollen tissues, the ibuprofen can knock that down and allow things to heal. But in general, if it doesn't keep getting worse, and in fact gets better, don't worry about it. Keep riding and it will keep getting better.

Thanks for the replies. I had a basic fitting done a while back becaue of knee issues. Those are doing great now. I fell good when I ride and don't think I really have a fit issue. I thought maybe a sadle issue causing the pains in my rear. I went to a diffrent bike shop today to pick up some stuff asked their fitter what he thought and he said he didn't really think it was a fit issue. I actually started having the pain on my right front also today but I went further than I have before. I rode 33 miles today we averaged 15mph. The pain normally dosen't kick in till around 20 miles which the last few rides have been 20-22 but today we kicked it up some. Anyway I will give the Dr. a call this week and get it checked out.
thanks again for all your help.
