Road Bike Racing - Cool site for racers in the MD/VA/DC area

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Not sure how many of you have already seen this, but a local racer has started up a pretty cool web site for racers around the DC area.

Not sure what's up with the name, but the site is pretty cool. There's an interactive group ride map that lists the rides of various local clubs, etc., there's lots of chatter about races and occasional coaching advice from pro coaches, etc. All in all pretty cool.
Just wanted to make sure everyone knew about it.

Thanks for the props. Glad you like the site.
As for the name:
"gam" is a (fairly uncommon I guess) synonym for "leg" and usually connotes "a shapely or muscular leg." I've heard cyclists refer to their "gams" quite a bit. Searching for "gams" on Google won't get you much, but just try "nice gams" or "muscular gams" and you'll see what I mean.
"jams" are improvisational riffs, as in music. But "jams" is also what we do to the pedals in an attack.
So it made perfect sense to me, at least for the 30 seconds I thought about it before buying the domain name. Now it sounds like I've got to hire some expensive marketing consultant to launch a rebranding initiative...

The name's growing on me. :D Really, though, it's a great site, and I've been visiting frequently. Good, good stuff.
Just out of curiosity, is this something you're doing for fun, or are you trying to make some cash with it?

Happy is the man who makes his passion his vocation.
There's a long-term vision for the site, which I suppose I post on at some point. Maybe it will make me some money; maybe it will just cover my entry fees. Either way, it's fun. What remains to be seen is if it's "just for fun."

Great site.
My race report/blog appeared on that site and my hits went off the wall that week.
So many people read of my mediocre finishes that weekend.

Do another one this week, SaddleBags. In fact, do it now - while you're still in first place in your mind. Whose gonna know? Heck, you could even make up a race so there'd be no witnesses.

You should consider adding some of the philly area races to the calendar. Since I missed out on Dolan this weekend I drove up to philly for the lower providence crit. I was going to send you a message about it but I was too shy I guess.

Yeah, I should just put the whole PA Cycling calendar in. I cover a lot of those races anyway and get a fair amount of traffic from PA also. I'll get around to it. Next project looks like it's going to be the Classifieds though.
