I am nursing a saddle sore, so I decided to take a few days off from biking and last night in-line skated from Canada / 92 to Edgewood and back. I must have looked very Fredilicious - pads, helmet and good but not great skates for that application - no, I did not wear my Alto Velo team kit. I used to skate from Malibu to Marina Del Rey on a smooth flat cement boardwalk on the beach - great aerobic work and scenery. I need the $400 carbon fiber skates with the 110 wheels for Canada.

The outbound was fast and okay but the return into the wind and up the water temple hill was an out of body experience. I did it with no problem and tried to stay as aero as possible but the wind was amazing.

Did you grab on to any seat posts like the kid's used to? ;)

I was thinking it would have been cool to keep up with an AV rider on skates, but the thought vanished rapidly as the not so smooth road and long layoff from the skates reality sank in and I was passed routinely by cyclists. I was happy being incognito.;)

One time I was riding around the Rose Bowl, and an inline skater (with 5 rollers) wanted to draft off of me, so I let him. He hung in with me for the whole first lap. He was making me work, just to try to give him a workout!
