Fifty Plus (50+) - We need a garage door contest

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

We need a garage door contest
Who has the best garage door as a background for a bicycle picture?
We could have divisions:
Best design.
Best color.
Most interesting paint chipping.
I nominate Sour01 (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=292168)for best all 'round garage door!

I don't have a garage so I use the end of my neighbors house. The vertical pattern of the T-111 is a nice change from the usual rectangular panels.

Does my neighbor's garage door count? The "Peachy" color of my door was just not right for my Red bike.

Damn it- I'll have to paint the garage door again as blue bikes on a blue door don't show up that well. Either that or it is another new bike.
No one in my neighborhood has a garage, much less a garage door. Everyone has a carport. That's why all my bike pics have the patio wall as a backdrop.
I guess I could draw a picture of a garage door on a very large cardboard box and use that. :p

This contest is inherently biased against those of us without garages.
In protest, I submit my bicycle in the corner office pic.

Here's two lowracer bents for the price of one. I took this last Winter for a guy that wanted to see the differences between an Optima Baron (front) and a Challenge Fujin SL-II (back).
The garage door is an insulated vinyl door from Wayne Dalton Doors.

I'm afraid mine isn't good for bike pictures:( The garage doors are dark brown and my bikes are grey, black and silver. Guess I'll have to borrow a neighbor's door.
Not until I get mine painted this summer!!

Other things about garage doors: the make and model, the paint job quality, whether the door is chain driven or worm gear, or hand lifted. If chain driven, what lubricant is used and how often its cleaned. If worm gear driven, what lubricant used. What motor is used: ie liftmaster, the horsepower rating.
If hand lifted, the spring tension. How long its been since the springs have been replaced ie have the springs broke?
If rollup type, are the panels insulated and double panel? etc.etc.

For heavens sake- You have now got me worried- Its a garage door. It goes up and it goes down- what else do I need to know, except it needs painting so the bike stands out better.

I vote for Jim Morrison as the best door. I'll bet money Grant Peterson was tripping on LSD and listening to the Doors when he came up with the idea of speedblend tires.

You can find more info here (http://www.bacchettabikes.com/). Whatever you do, don't look at the titanium version there, called the Aero, or the carbon fiber model, called the Carbon Aero.

Garage door is too small as I showed earlier, so I use the shed door instead. It is not just a shed- It is a BIKE shed.
My garage door is generic: a western U.S. style tilt-up comprising 1/4" plywood sheets screwed into 2x3 framing, painted white. What's special about it (if anything) is that I designed, built, and installed it myself. After 15 years it is showing its age, so I'll probably replace it with a sectional, now that they have gotten so reasonable in price.
