9/1 About 30 miles. Rode with a group out of S. Elgin that meets every Sat. about 7:30 by Village Pedaler on Randall. Good group, averaged about 17.8, although somebody said it's usually more like 16.8. Within easy riding distance to you, Psimet, although probably a little slow for your tastes.:p Could always use it as a recovery ride, assuming you did a Friday century somewhere. Good pace for me, though.:)

9/2 = Yes.

2 hours with CyLowe97. Up the Fox River Trail and then on to a route that CyLowe knew. I need to ride more, but at least I am not restarting my form from square one. Anyone ride the Fox River Trail around St Charles area? Is it clear? I'm wanting to commute to work this week, but don't feel like cyclocrossing it through the water.

Yes, I've been riding the Mondonico and Woodrup.

8/31 Mrs Road Fan and I went out on our morning loop, 8 miles in a circle on the west side of Ann Arbor - the hills are getting easier! Woodrup

9/2 I met up with BF-er Old Fat Guy and we went from the west side of Ann Arbor out on Huron River Drive to Dexter, stopped at teh coffee spot, and came back the same way. I usually do that around 12.5 to 13 mph, today the 22 mi at 13.7 mph. I could do it, but a lot of high heart rate. That man OFG has got power and speed! Mondonico

Give a review of that ride, and some info regarding it's time, etc. Might need to hit something on Saturday that won't totally kill me.

See the "Saturday Morning Ride" thread for a very basic description. Lete's see, some nice rollers, varying speeds, anywhere 15-25, depends on uphill or downhill, with/without wind, etc ;). I think there were 10 people when I rode last week. Some paceline riding with parts of the group. Different people taking the lead and/or pulling. No drops, kind of the "we wait here at the corner for the others to catch up" if anyone is falling back much. Sound familiar? We pulled out around 7:40, and got back a little after 9:00. It really worked out well timewise. I was home before my kids (teenagers) got up, pretty much leaving a full Saturday available for "regular" weekend stuff. Like waking them up!:D

9/9 - Yup.

Harmon Hundred century with a few other Bike Forums folks. Beautiful day on a hilly route.

BikingGrad80
09-09-07, 06:30 PM
Although I wasn't officially in the Harmon Hundred century I think I shared some of the same route as it. I started in Fox Lake from the metra station and took route 12 over Fox lake [not fun even on a Sunday morning]. Then, I took Wilmot into Wisconsin to Wilmot, Wisconsin. Next I took C to B through Silver Lake to JB. Next, I took J to Rochester. From Rochester I took FF which became DD once I crossed into Walworth county. Then Potter/Whitmore to NN to H. I saw a bunch of cyclists and SAG vehicles this segment but they were headed east, the opposite direction.
I made my way into Lake Geneva down Dodge/McDonald to S. Shore to Como. Here I met the mother of all hills. I was wheezing like I was having and asthma attack by the time I hit the top. Took 50 briefly to Knollwood to Laurel/Geneva Rd which became 67. Then followed 67 into Walworth to B to Ridge which took me to State line rd and back into Illinois. Then Gasch to Hebron to Reese to RT 173. Then Crowley I ran into a bit of a problem. I didn't know it was all torn up. I went through anyways because Rt 173 looked unpleasant. It got worse as I went on I barely made it to Harvard Hills over the broken up pavement. Finally, I went past Motorla and back to 173 which took me by the Harvard Metra station.

Total milage 82 [7 to and from Metra stations to my home]

9/10 Commuted to work today. 29 miles to downtown Chicago. Stupid headwind made it difficult.

BikingGrad80
09-10-07, 09:02 AM
Usual commute 18.5 miles. I hate coming during the heart of rush hour as all the @-holes are out. I switched last month from the North Branch trail to Lehigh ave because it was 1 mile shorter, they are going to be tearing up the path soon, and I was sick of near misses on the path with morons. However, Lehigh is narrow and have lots of brush passers including a school bus who was the worst.

Did 76 miles today. Up to the town of Ringworm, uh, Ringland or something like that (where the Fox/McHenry trail finally turns from paved to crunchy gravel). 38 with a great tail wind:D 38 with a nasty headwind:( At 40 I thought I feel great! After another 20 into the wind, my legs reminded me I haven't really ridden many long rides:rolleyes:

I FINALLY got back to commuting. Beautiful morning. No dogs. 2 black cats that did NOT cross my path. The squirrels are really freekin busy right now. I saw at least 15-20 per mile. This must be their busy season.

I feel great. Now....the ride home...uphill into the wind....;)

9-14 = 28 mile morning commute

Manohman, steady headwind is killing me. And it was cold to boot. 55 degrees in shorts and jersey doesn't feel to good. Later on I pulled my rain jacket over because I just couldn't stand the cold anymore.
But the hot shower at work made me forget the pain.
