Saturday Village Peddler ride. Met up with a few BF-ers. Freeking cold. I forgot something very important. Wasn't happy about it. Every dog we saw gave me the heebies.
Slower than last week, but the weather had to have something to do with it.
Computer has been reading low, but I have about 26 miles for the ride.

9/15 Easy ride on the Glacial Drumlin trail. First ride of the week so legs weren't the greatest but it felt good to ride anyway. ~ 15 miles in about an hour. Took the camera which is what I usually do on easy rides. Enjoy.

EZ 20 miler this morning. Left from EB Shurts in Waukesha and rode south along the Fox River. Did one lap around the old Salesville Superweek course then back to town on 59. Cool 53 deg warming to 67 by 11am. Nice ride. (pics : sorry, no chix this time)

Right turn on Holiday.

Then DOWN!
http://hometown.aol.com/J999w/FR6.jpg
Most memorable moment on this road was riding downhill on Holiday, halfway back in the USCF 3's/4's right on the left edge of the road. Right off the gravel. I wanted to sneak a peek to see how far I was back from the front and as soon as I moved my head to the left, a mail box went by my nose at 35 mph.
 MOMMA !!!
It was a nice ride today though. :)

We did that too!
Fri evening our 9YO & I took a tandem up & tented out on site. Our other two & tandem2 arrived Sat AM, and we rode the short loop, then home.
Nice day for it, and the kids loved the sags.

Waaaa? Dang, I would have liked to meet you velomedieval. I thought about doing the century but I had things to do at home. I could have been easily diverted into doing the longer ride. :)
So what is up with the pork chop sandwich? Kinda like the fried chicken lunch at the hilly hundred.

9/23 yes - 43 hilly miles up and around Franklin, Wabeek, West Bloomfield.
45 minutes into the ride I reached down to grab my front water bottle along Franklin. It wasn't there..."****, must have lost it somehow on a bump." Reached for the back bottle - nothing there. I did a double take then realized I'd left them both sitting back on the kitchen counter.
So I detoured into Wabeek Country Club and found the "Snack Shoppe" down two flights of concrete stairs (fun in the shoes.) I go to buy a water and the girl working asks for my member ID as I hand her some cash. She politely tells me that I have to be a member to purchase anything. As I'm thinking about what to respond some guy behind me asks "What do you want?" and I explain the deal to him. He puts my bottle of water on his tab. Thanks much member #989.

Next year: BF meetup? I almost made a thread about Hope and then it slipped my mind altogether.
The pork was a poor choice, I think (curious to see what my Jewish friend thought), and the number of flies on the food was really gross-- thank goodness there was a gas station across the street. The Hoosier Hills Bike Tour (which was, unfortunately, also yesterday) has a great box lunch with your choice of (wrapped) turkey, ham, or veg and cheese sandwiches, excellent pasta salad, chips, apples, and cookies and excellent SAG in between. And no flies on the food. :) I think it's my favorite organized ride.
I don't do the Hilly lunches, either, but then I live in Bloomington and I don't really need more than a pack of cheesy peanut butter crackers to get me through one of those rides-- it's home turf. Psimet, you have a stronger stomach than I!

9/23 - yes , 45 miles at Blood, Sweat & Tears ride in Barrington.
Nice rolling hills, low-traffic roads , great weather. So , I liked the ride despite the fact that you have to do the same loop twice for 45 mile distance.

54 miles today, at an avg about 17... OMG, I was so tired towards the end. We never really got a good tail wind because we went more south than we did east... there was a good crosswind wind today which didn't help us much, ugggh.
... but a good ride indeed!!:D

9/23 - Autumn Trek in River Falls, WI. Nice and cool at the start meeting with group from the Wed. night group ride. The consensus is the 65 mile route with one planning the 101 mile. Forecast calls for strong winds from the south and increasing as the day goes. We haed out looking like a force to be reckoned with until about 8 miles in when the call comes up from the back half, "flat." Six of us stop to give Hans the "advice and support" he needs. Takes a while but are soon under way. At the second rest stop got a cool picture of Kathy. Next stop is at the Circle K Orchard where their big festiva weekend is going on. This is about 35 miles into the ride and most has been into a stiff wind, so well needed. Civil War Camp set up there also. The one rider did the 101 miles, most every one else took the 51 mile bail out, and four of us did the 65 route. It was a brutal ride with the wind added to the hilly terrain we have here. My thrill came when I hit 49 mph on the big downhill by Ellsworth. Wore out at the end, but made it to the tee time I had with my wife. A great day!

9/24 - Commute. Ride in was beautiful. Kind of humid. Thought I was hauling butt and feeling good. I looked down at my HRM and saw "22" for the minutes on the time. At that point I am usually around "28". I thought, "you, psimet, are an animal."
The I went to stop the HRM and found out it was frozen....at 0:22, not 1:22. Check the computer on the bike and I was more like 8 minutes slower than normal. :(

9/26 - Commute. Had a late running meeting so I got out about an hour later than normal. Battery on the light was running low and that trail gets DARK! Interesting experience.
Daddy needs an HID....
Honored my 61st birthday today by playing hooky from work and taking a 30-mile ride on a local paved rail-trail. Yeah, it's an MUT, but at that hour on a weekday morning it might as well be an SUT with me as the single user. Going back to a previous life as a motorcyclist, I've always enjoyed being on two wheels as the sun rises in clear skies on a crisp Autumn morning, and this ride even gave me a chance to try out the leg and arm warmers that my wife gave me as a birthday gift. A great ride!
On this particular route, my turnaround point is at a small-town cafe off the trail where you can still get eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns and coffee for less than $5. That really fueled me up for the ride back, when I could strip off some layers and pick up a couple mph.
A week from Sunday I'll be taking the route that lets me ride my age in the Blue Water Ramble. This got me to thinking about that milestone. In running, we have a similar goal which is to run a 10K in less than your age. I can still beat that by a good margin, but at least that gets a minute easier each year instead of harder. But I should be able to break both goals for quite a few years yet...

Had a bad cold on Monday, stayed home from work. Felt good today, but just did an easy hour around Burlington, WI late this afternoon. Parked next to the Fox River and cruised around by the airport and the quiet roads north of there. My 'get out of town for a bit' ride.

9/30 - too close to call it a ride :(
After doing only one 33 mile loop at yesterday's Psimet Invitational I thought I do not have enough weekend miles and went to local bike trail. Just 6.5 miles into the ride I got a flat. While changing the tube I hear loud BOOM - spare tube explodes. No third tube , no patch kit = wife to the rescue. Got home thinking I still have enough time to ride today after fixing the flat - third tube explodes too! I've got the message - no ride today! Spent extra hour cleaning my bike and finally changing that damn tube without explosion.

Check the rim strip. If hole is on inside of tube (towards rim) then you most likely have a rim strip problem. If hole is long gash along the side of the utbe then the tire wasn't seated correctly. If your hole is on the outside, and in the same place as the other tube (WRT valve location) then you have debris still lodged in your tire causing the extra flats.

28 miles in 2+ hours.
Started out on the Bugline Trail in Menomonee Falls and worked my way west into the farm lands around Merton. All new roads for me since I'm a south side boy and traffic is a hassle to drive north during the week. Finished up just after dark cruising around the neighborhood where I parked, listening to the music from the "Big Pig Gig" just a few blocks away. Much needed saddle time acquired. Good ride.
